Durga Pujo, also known as Durgotsav, is a joyous celebration steeped in the vibrant socio-cultural history of Bengal. This magnificent festival is the crowning jewel of the Bengali community, bringing together people of all genders, classes, communities, religions, and races in harmony. As we come together to honor the Mother Goddess, this beautiful occasion also aligns with the grand festivities of Navratri and Dussehra, celebrated far and wide across India and even in the United Kingdom. Let’s embrace the spirit of unity and joy as we partake in this enchanting celebration!

This year marks our exciting 4th anniversary of the celebration!

Get ready to celebrate this Autumn! From the 27th to the 29th of September, the charming suburb of Solihull in the West Midlands will once again come alive with joy as we honor the Durgotsav—an enchanting festival that welcomes the Hindu Goddess Durga, our beloved Mother. Organized by Solihull Sarbojonin, this vibrant three-day event will take place at the Solihull Women’s Institute, B91 3DQ. Join us for a delightful experience filled with community, culture, and festivities!

With the motto “shobar shathe, shobar majhe,” Solihull Sarbojonin invites everyone to its 3-day festival, which transcends mere religious observance. This vibrant celebration highlights the rich tapestry of Bengali life, featuring delicious food, captivating art, local businesses, lively music, and a plethora of cultural experiences. The festival is truly ‘open to all,’ embracing everyone who wishes to join in the fun. Importantly, the event relies entirely on the generosity of voluntary donations and community support to thrive.

Solihull Sarbojonin, a vibrant collective of the Indian Bengali community in and around Solihull, has recently spearheaded a variety of community events aimed at celebrating and sharing Bengali culture within the broader British Indian landscape. These initiatives not only educate and unite the younger generation but also bolster local businesses and organizations, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Despite the popularity of Durga Puja across the UK, the sizable Indian population in Solihull and nearby areas like Warwickshire, Rugby, and Coventry found themselves without a local celebration—until now. This event has proven to be a catalyst, uniting individuals from these regions and beyond. It’s no surprise that it has already garnered significant support from a range of local and global organizations, small and medium enterprises, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
